Read 2 Timothy 3:16-17. God has equipped us with his word. It is the source for this tutorial. We will use it to teach. We will use it to learn God's way, that is; how to follow his will. We will use it to correct the misdirection of our human will. We will go back to some biblical references several times.
This tutorial contains the following sections:
The Introduction looks at what witnessing is, identifies various difficulties that are present when witnessing to Mormons, and provides real life insight into one popular approach.
The Power of God's Word focuses on what the Bible says about witnessing. Bible references emphasize the awesome power of God-given witnessing tools. A startling biblical truth depicts the place of man's wisdom in the process of conversion. Examples of our Savior's witnessing technique are provided. The way our sinful nature attempts to influence our witness is explored and contrasted with God's plan for witnessing. Biblical topics that provide a common ground with Mormons are introduced. Finally, God's Word provides the encouragement we often need to actively witness.
Conversion looks at how the Bible pictures a person leaving the darkness of unbelief and coming into the light of faith.
The Use of the Law demonstrates the purpose of the law in conversion. Biblical references provide insight into properly using the law in witnessing situations.
The Use of the Gospel demonstrates the purpose of the gospel in conversion. Biblical references provide insight into using the gospel in witnessing situations.
Witness with Love takes a scriptural-based look at overcoming human nature in order to witness in love.
The next section of Witnessing Fundamentals addresses actual witnessing situations where it becomes difficult to stay focused on Christ. Keep the Focus on God's Word looks both at the importance, and the technique of actively controlling the discussion so that Jesus and his substitutionary work remain the primary focus.
Help Mormons Transition examines life after conversion. It can be very difficult for ex-Mormons to transition into a Christian church family. This section identifies ways in which we can support ex-Mormons make this transition.
